Seven awards across three categories cover overseas living, travel, tuition, and project funding for current NOC students, returnees, and the wider public. Most NOC students qualify for at least one. Use the filter below to find yours.

3-month SEA programme is not eligible — except for the GRT grant

Class of 1976 Engineering Overseas Learning Assistance Grant

Endowed by the NUS Engineering Class of 1976 to help financially-needy Engineering students embark on overseas NOC programmes.

Eligibility

  • Embarking on overseas NOC programme

  • Engineering student only

  • Singapore Citizen or PR

  • Financial status of applicant assessed (family household income, etc)

What's expected of recipients

  • Be a positive ambassador of NUS during your NOC stint

  • Contribute to NOC and Engineering Department's events through sharing your overseas experience

  • Submit a report on what was learned and how the Award was used

Global Ready Talent (GRT) Programme

An Enterprise Singapore initiative, administered by NUS — supports Singaporean undergraduates on physical overseas internships in Emerging Markets.

Emerging Markets — SEA, LatAm, China, IsraelSingapore Citizens / PRsNUS UG only3-month SEA eligible

S$1,000/mo + S$1,200 subsistence + one-time travel

Eligibility

  • Singapore Citizens or PRs (full-time NUS UG only)

  • Selected for NOC locations in Emerging Markets in SEA, Latin America, China, or Israel

  • Must not hold any other external scholarship covering airfare and subsistence for the overseas programme

  • Not previously supported under same GRT type with the same internship company

What's expected of recipients

  • Submit a report (with photos) of experiential learning, within 2 weeks after end of programme

  • Complete mandatory internship feedback form upon completion

Jane Sun & John Wu Sunshine Award

Set up by Jane Sun (CEO, Trip.com Group) and John Wu (Founding Partner, FengHe Group) to support entrepreneurial students in NOC China.

Eligibility

  • Selected for NOC China (all locations) programme

  • Strong entrepreneurial qualities with a demonstrated pay-it-forward spirit

  • Financial status of applicant assessed

What's expected of recipients

  • Be a positive ambassador of NUS during your NOC stint

  • Share your intercultural startup experience and engage with start-up events

  • Inspire juniors as a way of paying it forward

  • Submit a one-page profile and a final report

Recipients may also visit Trip.com Group and meet Ms. Sun and Mr. Wu.

NOC Alumni Bursary

Funded by the NOC Alumni community to enable financially-needy NUS undergraduates to take part in NOC and defray set-up costs.

  • Selected for NOC programme

  • Strong entrepreneurial qualities and a pay-it-forward attitude

  • Financial status of applicant assessed

  • Share intercultural startup experience and engage with start-up events

  • Be an inspiration to juniors

  • Submit a final report

Young Technopreneur Award (YTA)

Endowed by Mr. Foo Jixun (Managing Partner, GGV Capital) — supports tech-inclined NOC China students with funding and entrepreneurial activities.

NOC China — 12-month onlyAll nationalitiesTech-related companies

Up to S$10,000 in two tranches of S$5,000

Eligibility

  • Selected for NOC China one-year programme interning at a tech-related company

  • Strong entrepreneurial qualities and potential

  • 6-month NOC China students are not eligible

What's expected of recipients

  • Submit one-page profile upon acceptance

  • Be an ambassador of NUS during your NOC stint

  • Share startup experience to bridge SG-China business communities

  • Submit 2 reports — one mid-programme on tech idea and progress, one at end on overall journey

Award disbursed in two tranches: first at start of programme, second after performance review at end.

For NOC returnees

For students who have completed NOC and are continuing their NUS degree

Jacob Phang Memorial Scholarship

Established by family and friends of the late Professor Jacob Phang (CEO of NUSX 2002–2006), in honour of his role founding NOC.

Up to S$3,500 per award · final-semester tuition

Eligibility

  • Undergraduates from College of Design and Engineering (CDE)

  • Have completed NOC stint or currently enrolled, and slated to graduate from NUS in the upcoming semester

  • Singapore Citizens or PRs

  • Performed well at internship and entrepreneurial courses during NOC

  • Active in venture creation and entrepreneurial activities during NOC

  • Not concurrently holding any other scholarship, grant, or award covering tuition fees in final semester

What's expected of recipients

  • Submit a one-page profile upon acceptance

  • Recipients are expected to take up accommodation in N-House (subsidised by NOC) during their final semester

Up to two scholarships awarded per academic year.

Philip Yeo Innovation Fellows Programme

Part of the Philip Yeo Initiative (PYI) — a ground-up initiative honouring Mr. Philip Yeo's MAD (Make A Difference) leadership ethos.

Up to S$20,000 per award + mentorship

Eligibility

  • Singapore Citizens or PRs, below age 40

  • Demonstrated passion, energy, drive, and unconventional thinking

  • Have a MAD project / idea with potential for great positive societal impact

What you receive

  • Funding of up to S$20,000

  • Mentorship from the PYI network

  • Access to networking opportunities

Fellows propose and implement an individual fellowship project over a one-year period and submit a final report.
