FAQ

The most common questions before applying

  1. [1] Does NOC count toward my degree?

NOC is credit-bearing for eligible NUS undergraduates — check with the NOC office how it maps onto your specific degree timeline.

  2. [2] Can I apply if I'm in Year 4?

Often yes, but your remaining degree timeline needs to accommodate 6–12 months abroad. Talk to the NOC office early.

  3. [3] What does it cost?

You pay regular NUS tuition; NOC adds living costs abroad, partially offset by available grants and loans.

  4. [4] Will NOC find me an internship, or do I need to find one myself?

NOC supports placement into its partner-startup network, but you'll also actively interview — it's a real job search, with help.

  5. [5] What's the difference between Full Year and Short Programme?

Full Year is a 12-month deep immersion; Short Programme is a focused stint for students who can't be away as long.

  6. [6] Do I need to speak the local language?

No — host startups operate in English. Picking up the local language is a bonus, not a requirement.
