About Hanoi
Rearrange your view of normal.
Vietnam is now the world's second largest exporter of smartphones. Most of them are made in Bac Ninh and Thai Nguyen, forty minutes from the centre of Hanoi, and the engineering, finance and logistics that hold it together run out of the city. FPT is headquartered here and writes software for Fortune 500 companies. So are Viettel, CMC and VinAI. None of that existed twenty years ago.
The country turns out around fifty thousand computing graduates a year and they are almost all young, because most of Vietnam is. What that produces is a place where the person running the team you join is almost as young as you, and where nobody has been doing this long enough to be certain how it should be done. You will be able to contribute more than you expect and grow faster as a result.
Three months or six, you will be handed real problems in the first month, because rapidly growing companies have nobody spare to hand it to instead. Very few places will test you and ask as much of you in such a short period.

Vietnam trains around fifty thousand computing graduates every year, and a large share of them come through this city. The engineers who build for FPT, Viettel and Samsung were trained here. You take a course alongside them.
