Reverence for engineering
NOC students here have worked on electric aircraft, quantum simulation software and energy systems. If you want to build something physical, Munich will give you the best opportunities.
Spend a year inside a Munich startup while taking a course at the Technical University of Munich. The companies here build aircraft, semiconductors and medical devices, not apps.

Startups are usually associated with software. In Munich, the association is engineering. The companies here are building electric aircraft, quantum simulation tools, energy pricing systems and medical devices. Sitting in the same ecosystems Siemens, BMW and the machine-tool firms that have supplied Europe centuries. A deep tech company needs a decade and a factory, not a weekend and a landing page. This changes the typical experience of a startup here.
That shows up in what students do. Chew Yong Zhang designed the battery management system for an electric aircraft at VÆRIDION. Wilson Lee built revenue forecasting at nextnano, a quantum simulation company. Karishma Thirumaran worked on AI at Erium. These are not shadowing roles. They are engineering jobs on products that have to work.
Munich sits in the middle of Europe, and everything is a train ride away. Students have spent weekends in other countries and still found time to enter hackathons in Bremen and Geneva alongside a their internship. Opportunities for growth are endless.

You take an entrepreneurship course at the Technical University of Munich. The remaining 36 NOC units come from your internship, where your focus and time is dedicated to the practice of bringing products to life.
Leading hubs are a short and often scenic train ride away. You can broaden your horizons and expose yourselves to markets that hold centuries of expertise in manufacturing, materials, and pharmaceuticals.
You take classes on entrepreneurship at TUM part-time while the internship runs. Four of your thirty-six NOC units come from those classes. The other thirty-two come from your internship.
The diesel engine, patented by Rudolf Diesel in 1893. The Otto cycle that every petrol engine still runs on. The Nobel work on X-ray crystallography in 1914. TUM has produced innovations that European engineering and manufacturing have been built on.
"My NOC Munich experience at Vaeridion GmbH was incredibly impactful. As a Mechanical Design Engineering Intern, I directly contributed to sustainable aviation projects, honing my technical skills in a fast-paced startup environment. The entrepreneurial classes I took at both TUM and NUS further enhanced my problem-solving abilities, business acumen, and product development skills, giving me a unique perspective on innovation."
"I had the chance to experience how a startup functions through my internship, and gained insights into pitching ideas through my courses. Overall, I believe NOC has significantly contributed to my understanding of startups, and I developed technical skills, soft skills, and friendships that are invaluable to me."
"Getting to go through NOC, especially in Munich, was truly memorable and impactful. As a computer engineer and AI development intern at Erium, I gained a nuanced understanding of the dynamic AI landscape, and got to explore various avenues such as finance and marketing as well."
"Being a part of NOC Munich was a life-changing experience. As a Marketing and Communications Intern at a food tech/health tech startup, I got to try my hand at many exciting projects such as designing our mascot and product packaging in a sector and environment I was previously unfamiliar with. Being on the other side of the world for 6 months encouraged me to take risks, built my independence, adaptability and many invaluable friendships with my batchmates."
"During my internship at VÆRIDION, I contributed to the design of the Battery Management System for an electric aircraft, which greatly enhanced my technical skills in PCB design and validation. The NOC Munich programme also allowed me to travel across Europe, participate in hackathons in Bremen and Geneva, and expand my professional network."
"My time with nextnano GmbH in Munich was a pivotal chapter in my entrepreneurial journey. Complementing this was the entrepreneurial prototyping course at the Technical University of Munich, which focused on employing prototyping methods to develop and validate new products and business models. My NOC experience has been truly unparalleled and formative!"
"NOC Munich was truly an eye-opening adventure for me. From living and working overseas, where I interned as a software engineer with an energy pricing software company (Preisenergie GmbH), to the entrepreneurship classes taken with our partner university TUM, each experience provided me with numerous opportunities to learn and excel beyond my comfort zone."
